EZ-Find Locates Your Misplaced Objects

It’s a frustrating experience when you’re searching through your entire house to find an item you had in your hands a month ago but still can’t find anywhere. With the EZ-Find locator and tags, you finally have a solution to find your things again in seconds – at least when you’ve fitted them with an EZ-Find tag.

What's This? Why It’s Clever

I’m not the most organized person in my home, and that’s an understatement. I regularly have to search through the entire house to find something I used a month ago. In general, the process goes as follows: Initially, my family doesn’t pay any attention to my searching. When I start searching the second room, I see some anxiety in their eyes. When they hear the drawers and cabinet doors open in the third room, they start covering their ears as a precaution, and when the searching extends beyond the third room, everyone runs to the basement for shelter until the storm is over.

The EZ-Find looks promising. You attach a wireless tag to each of those items you tend to misplace from time to time, and then enter a name for that item on the locator. When you can’t find an item, you simply search for its name on the locator display, press a button, and the tag attached to your lost object starts beeping.

The problem is that you don’t know beforehand what you’ll be looking for in a month, and you can’t attach a tag to everything. But there are things that I search for regularly, such as my keys, my wallet, my phone (fortunately, I can call that one to locate it), our iPod, photo camera, and most of our daughter’s toys. Not that I would glue a tag to my camera, for instance, but slipping a tag with the device inside its bag would be just great.

Here's a short demo.

Or you can look at a long Youtube video explaining the whole thing.

Summary

  • EZ-Find locates your misplaced items
  • Up to 25 tags can be identified
  • Each item can be named on the locator
  • Tags beep when they need to be located
  • Also EZ-Find tags for pets available
  • 60/100 ft (20-30m) finding range.

Tips

It’s clearly marketed toward a consumer audience, but I can imagine it could be useful in an office as well. Imagine that you’re working in an office with a lot of binders or tools, and several people are using them. You could lose lots of time locating the important binder you need while it’s on someone else’s desk. How easy it would be to take the EZ-Find, press a button, and hear the binder beeping “Here I am!”

It could also be handy for elderly people with memory problems, but I’m not sure if they’ll be able to operate the locator. Do leave a comment here if you’ve any experience with this.

Where to buy

You can buy the EZ-Find from Amazon.com. There's even an EZ-Find for Pets now.
