Compact Folding Ladder for Home Use

A few weeks ago we told you about a telescoping ladder that can even reach to your roof. Another type of ladder that’s annoying when it comes to stowing it in your home is the classic folding ladder. With this type as well, designers have been very creative recently, developing models that can even fit in the corner of your closet if space is really tight.

What's This? Why It’s Clever and Easy

Telescoping ladders such as those described in a recent post are great for outdoor use, but they don’t help if you need to change a light bulb in your home or fit the star onto the top of your Christmas tree (yes, it’s that time of year again).

For these chores, you’ll be better off with a folding ladder, but just like extensible ladders, they seem to get in the way wherever you store them. Certainly when living in an apartment, it would be great to have a ladder that collapses completely when you need to store it. And that’s just what these compact folding ladders do. Once collapsed, they look like a pole, and you can store them in any corner, even in a wardrobe or closet if it’s tall enough.

Have a look at this model:

Summary

  • Available in lengths of 5 feet or 7 feet
  • Weight 25 lbs
  • Rated for 225 lbs
  • Only 3.5" x 4.5" when collapsed.

Another very versatile design is this 6061-T6, as shown in the pictures below.

There are even other designs out there – just run a search for compact folding ladder.

When you need a ladder that extends all the way to the roof and can still be fit into the trunk of your car, you should consider a telescoping ladder.

Reportedly, some of these models are a bit wobbly, although they won’t come apart. Check them before buying if you don’t feel comfortable.

Where to buy

You can buy them from Amazon.com and other websites – Google will show you the way.
