iPod Dock and Universal Remote – Philips SJM3151
Recently, we posted an article on the Bexy iMirror iPod docking station and remote control. We liked it from the start because, contrary to most iPod docks, you can even see and select the tracks on your iPod on the iMirror’s screen. One commenter on the article pointed me to the Philips SJM3151, which has roughly the same functionality but also includes that one feature that I was really missing in the Bexy – the SJM3151 is also a universal remote control!
Why It’s Clever
There’s not too much to say about this device if you’ve already read the article on the Bexy product. You can connect your iPod to your hi-fi system and, instead of needing to get up to select another track, the backlit LCD screen on the remote control displays the tracks and playlists from your iPod. You can simply select your preferred music right from your chair.
It has all the other advantages of the Bexy, too, with the most important features, plus the fact that your iPod is being charged while you’re listening to your favorite music or watching your iPod video on your TV screen.
One other difference from other solutions is that the remote control uses radio signals (ZigBee standard) rather than infrared, meaning it works through walls or doors.
