Bexy iMirror iPod dock – See Your iPod Contents On Your Remote
Most iPod docking solutions offer the convenience of connecting your iPod to your hi-fi chain and accessing your whole CD library from the remote control without ever needing to change a CD. However, unless you're sitting next to them, they still require you to get up and walk over to select a new artist or album. Not so with the Bexy iMirror iPod Dock.
Why It’s Clever and Easy
The original approach that Bexy has taken with the iMirror is to transfer your whole artist, track and album information to the remote control, which has its own liquid-crystal display. This allows you to select the music on your iPod you want while sitting comfortably on your couch, which is a big improvement, in my opinion. Besides playing music, you can also use it to access the video content stored on your iPod and play it on your TV screen which is a lot more useful than viewing it on the small iPod screen. In the meantime, your iPod sits in the docking station and charges its battery, guaranteeing you unlimited playtime.
The missed opportunity, in my opinion, is that they haven't integrated it into a universal remote control that you then could use to control everything, including your TV, hi-fi installation, DVD player, etc.
Summary
- Interfaces your iPod with your hi-fi installation and/or TV
- iMirror Remote control allows you to see your album/artist/track on the remote control's display, so you don't have to get up to change your music
- They don't mention iPhone compatibility, yet.
Tips
Alternatives:
- Another approach to the same problem is the Marantz IS301 iPod remote.
- The iMirror seems like a great solution, but if you like the convenience of having all your music at your fingertips and at the same time pure, uncompressed CD/DVD quality, you might consider an alternative in the shape of a CD/DVD carrousel.
- Finally, if you're looking for something like the Bexy but with integrated universal remote control, have a look at the Philips SJM3151.
Here's a comparison of the three approaches.
Once you have your iPod hooked-up to your stereo, you're going to want the same in your car. The Scosche interference-free FM modulator looks quite interesting to us.
Where to buy
You can buy it from the Bexy webshop at http://www.bexyusa.com or probably lots of other online shops.
