Hold a Door Open a Crack – the Easy Way, with Door Monkey

We all know how difficult it is to make a door stay open a crack to let some fresh air circulate or to reassure kids who refuse to sleep with the door closed. Sure, you can put something between the door and the door frame to keep it from slamming shut. But how do you keep it from opening more than you want it to? The Door Monkey is the answer.

What's This? Why It’s Clever

Our daughter now being old enough, I simply use a towel or anything else I can find to keep the door from slamming shut when there’s a bit of a draft. This can also keep a toddler from closing the door or getting his fingers pinched, but not from opening the door further and starting to explore the great unknown. The same goes for your cats, dogs, or more-exotic pets (maybe that’s where the name Door Monkey comes from).

The clever device attaches to any door without any tools and has soft rubber grips to protect the mounting surfaces. And it can be hung on the door knob when not in use.

Because it’s so easy to attach, you can place it high or low, depending on what you want to achieve and whom you want to protect.
